New York, NY (September 29, 2016) Clean Plates, a multi-platform digital media brand for health and sustainably minded food lovers, today announced a large strategic expansion with a focus on launching and building out its web and video properties. The company launched its website loaded with information and videos on the health and wellness lifestyle, they added a new Friday Recipe Edition e-mail newsletter to broaden the content offering in their daily newsletter lineup, and are building out their leadership team with the addition of several staff members, including Tanya Steel, the award-winning former Editorial Director/Editor-in-Chief of Epicurious.
With a surge in interest across the country in healthy foods and wellness, Clean Plates is committed to complete, authoritative coverage of this growing subject. Clean Plates is broadening its offerings to include original recipes and videos, reporting on nutrition and health news and products, eco travel and spas, home, happiness, beauty and style, and influential visionaries and thought leaders in the health and wellness space. A new cleanly designed website and e-mail newsletter called Weekend Menu Hacks reflect this mission as does the brand’s new tag line: Clean Plates: Clean Food. Clean Body. Clean Planet.
Launched in 2011 Clean Plates has grown into a community of 1 million email subscriptions. The brand has grown organically, starting with restaurant guidebooks, then a cookbook, an app, email newsletters, and now a category-leading website for the health and wellness lifestyle.
“I started Clean Plates as a way to provide vital information for my clients, who sought guidance on how to eat as cleanly as possible, whether they were at home or at a restaurant,” says Founder and President Jared Koch, a nutritional consultant and health coach certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. “Since then we’ve grown so much that we’re now poised to become the go-to destination for healthy food and wellness-conscious consumers.”
To further lead the charge, Clean Plates hired a thought leader in the space, appointing Tanya Steel as Editorial Director. “I am so excited to bring my passion for healthy eating, cooking, and wellness to Clean Plates, and help it grow into an industry leader and global brand,” says Tanya. She well knows the intersection of food, health and wellness: She’s the former Editor-in Chief of Epicurious, which over her eight years as editor she helped develop into the most award-winning digital lifestyle food brand on the web; the author of two cookbooks including a New York Times’ bestseller, with a third book on the way; a former editor at Bon Appétit and Food & Wine; and was integral in the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge & Kids’ “State Dinner,” hosted at the White House with First Lady Michelle Obama, since its inception five years ago.
In addition, Jill Cromwell-Wang, formerly of Well & Good, has been appointed Vice President, Sales, in order to develop advertising, custom content and sponsor partnerships. The new web site has relaunched with advertising from Arla, Green Chef, Luvo, Natural Gourmet Institute, Sun Basket, Sweet by Nature, and Thrive Market.
“With the addition of Tanya and Jill, we are primed to become the market leader, whether we’re talking advertising, consumers, or industry acclaim,” says William Brady, Clean Plates CEO.
