The Pikey, the English-style pub on Sunset, is a real gastropub - with an organic twist. Owned by Sean MacPherson (of Il Covo, Swingers and Roger Room, among others) and with chef Ralph Johnson (of Spotted Pig) heading the kitchen, The Pikey swaps traditional mushy peas for persimmon salad with speck and Marcona almonds, or roasted beet salad with feta and hazelnuts. There’s meat to be had, too, but it’s all local, free range and cruelty-free. And as a nod to England’s heavy Indian influence, The Pikey offers eggplant, tomato & lentil curry doled out over Punjabi cornbread, a perfect option for vegetarians.
