Throughout the city chefs are whipping up hearty winter meals that are comforting and nutritious to boot. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Creamy Butternut Squash Soup at Gotham Bar & GrillThe vibrant color of the butternut squash soup at Gotham Bar & Grill holds serious appeal, and the dish is elevated with celery root custard and spiced honey crisp apple cider emulsion. Keep the winter flavors coming by ordering the roasted Berkshire pork chop as an entrée; it comes with soft polenta, hearty braised escarole, and a fresh burst of citrus mostarda, and is finished with natural pork jus.
  • Spit Roasted Organic Chicken at CookshopThe aroma of a roasting chicken on a cold night is one of winter’s true pleasures, and the flavors of Cookshop’s spit roasted organic chicken are equally divine. Accompaniments of sweet potatoes, spiced carrots and dried plums amp up the seasonal appeal.
  • Celery Root Pot Pie at The Fat RadishThe Fat Radish’s nutrient-packed take on classic pot pie includes black garlic and a touch of gruyere cheese. Pair your pie with sides like roasted brussels sprouts, mashed red kabocha squash, braised market cabbages or roasted heirloom carrots with cumin and honey.

Which Manhattan restaurants are pleasing your winter palette?
